I received a bachelor's degree in history from SUNY Binghamton and an MBA from the University at Albany (which I pursued while working full-time at Ayco). After college, I worked at a large financial firm as a sales assistant. I joined Ayco because I saw an opportunity for growth.
When I started with Ayco's Investment Services Group as a portfolio administrator, the department consisted of about 20 associates. Now, 10 years later, the department consists of over 165 associates.
I am the director of operations for Ayco Asset Management in ISG. In this capacity, I manage two teams:
The new-account team. This team consists of associates who are responsible for processing the paperwork to open new Goldman Sachs accounts for our clients. We work closely with Ayco's account managers to do this.
The portfolio administrators and client relations administrators on the Ayco Services Group teams. This team is responsible for serving both the account manager teams and clients. They perform a range of functions including handling new account calls, account funding, disbursements/wires, answering statement questions, asset transfers, providing cost basis/gains and loss information and amortization requests.
In addition, I serve as a liaison with Goldman Sachs.
I help my teams manage their work flow while fielding their questions. The new-account team works with counseling teams to process the new-account form, generate account paperwork, establish the account, assign account numbers, resolve open issues and satisfy all compliance requirements. The final step is funding the account.
I review the applications received and follow up with the appropriate team members. I am constantly sending out e-mails concerning the status of accounts being opened and follow-up action that is required.
My days are always interesting and I never know what someone is going to ask me to help them with. Critical to my success at Ayco are good people and time-management skills. I see the big picture and how things fit into it.
